Our Team

At Expeditions Avoca, our educators understand how important early years education is for a child. Our educators draw on their extensive experience to support and encourage children as they navigate and develop through these first few years and pride themselves on providing a high quality education and care facility.

Our educators take a multifaceted approach to early childhood education by incorporating innovative practices and educational frameworks that gives children every opportunity to explore, discover and lead their education.

Expeditions Avoca recognises that teaching and learning have taken place on its land for thousands of years and is honoured to continue this tradition. We acknowledge the original owners of the land.

The team at Expeditions Avoca are committed to guiding each individual child on their own journey. We look forward to welcoming you to our centre.

Meet Our Centre Director Helen

Helen started in the early childhood education industry in 2000 and has over 20 years of experience working as a Lead Educator, Assistant Director and Director throughout the years. She is constantly learning and expanding her skills which is key to leading a team in this industry.

With children of her own who have attended Expeditions, Helen understands the impact our centres have on children and their learning and developmental journey.

Helen is passionate about working in the industry and loves watching children grow and learn through play while they are in our care. Helen thrives on building strong communication with all families, children and staff and strives to have trusting partnerships built on honesty and respect. She feels it is important to create a happy and fun learning environment for children to feel confident to learn and develop their skills in a safe environment.

Helen thoroughly enjoys working in childcare and is excited to welcome families to Expeditions Avoca.

Kelly - Assistant Director

Kelly loves working with children and engaging them in tasks and games designed to promote analytical thinking skills and cooperation, and assist them in working with others to resolve conflicts and encourage cooperation.

Young children learn from playing, questioning, and experimenting I love using play and other instructional techniques to help children’s development. For example, I may use storytelling and rhyming games to teach language and vocabulary or improve a child's social skills by having them work together to build something in a sandbox.

I am passionate about making a difference in a fun, safe and educational environment.

Melanie - Assistant Centre Director

Melanie began her career in the early childhood education industry 12 years ago. Starting with Expeditions in October 2009, Melanie has worked her way up from Room Leader to Educational Leader and is now the Assistant Director at our Avoca centre.

Melanie has been working alongside our team promoting positive outcomes for children and families, inspiring, motivating, challenging and extending our educators practice and pedagogy.

Melanie is passionate about the industry and understands the importance the first five years has on a child’s life to build the foundation that shapes future health, happiness, growth, development and learning achievements at school, in the family and community, and in life in general. Melanie believes that nature is a powerful teacher and through play and exploration, children will develop the skills that are needed to succeed later in life. This type of play is also essential for children’s overall wellbeing and nutrition.

As a proud mum of three children, Melanie understands the importance of quality care and is dedicated to providing children with opportunities to develop and grow.
